pets

Sam's cat Charlie, who lives with Sam's parents

Growing up, I was basically obsessed with animals. I spent the majority of my free time at a nearby farm, riding horses and helping out. At home, we had a cat, a dog, several mice, and two guinea pigs. Plus a beta fish a friend gave me for my birthday. My husband had several cats growing up. I'm pretty sure that pets are great for kids, but also, aren't they great for adults? I miss my cat all the time, because she was the best for cuddling, petting, talking to, and playing with. I find myself wishing we had a cat pretty frequently. They are the best companions, and also they eat things like mice and spiders! Well, they kill them, anyway. Really, Sam and I need a cat. But sadly...our flat doesn't allow pets, and our tiny one-bedroom place is too small for one, anyway.

Instead we miss animals, and sometimes befriend them on the street. And I ask Sam regularly, 'next time we move, can we live somewhere that allows cats? And then can we adopt one?' (and he says yes, of course).

So in case you were wondering what kinds of things we look forward to... it is the day we are rich enough to own our own cat.

  1. Aw, I hope you can have a cat in your life soon. Thankfully I've never been in a situation where I couldn't have one (except a college dorm, I guess). I don't know what I'd do without my pets.

  2. This is soooo sad. I want you to go right out, now, and adopt a cat, and squeeze him/her into that tiny flat, and love on him till your lips bleed. And keep it a secret! Secrets are good!
